We have limited snorkeling equipment at Komba on the Rocks. For personal comfort we recommend that guests bring their own equipment.
All equipment will be properly cleaned after use. Please arrange with management before using any equipment.

Diving
If you would like to dive a little deeper we recommend Nosy Komba Plongée Diving Center - it's the only dive club on our island. We can arrange your diving for you or you may contact them directly on their website.
Meet the Lemurs
Half-Day:
This excursion will start with a 15-minute boat ride to the village of Ampangorina. Walk through part of the village and then enter the Black Lemur Sanctuary. Here, you’ll enjoy a guided tour to meet Madagascar’s black lemurs (macacos) and encounter other animals such as turtles and snakes.
After the tour, you’ll have time to explore Ampangorina – known for its authentic Malagasy culture. Visit craft markets offering carvings, paintings, embroidered cut-work tablecloths, curtains, spices, and vanilla. In the village, you’ll also find beach-facing restaurants and bars.
Full-Day:
Enjoy a traditional Malagasy lunch at one of the beachside restaurants. After lunch, the boat will take you to Secret Island – a hidden gem only visible at low tide – where you can snorkel and discover the island’s underwater beauty.
Kayaking and SUP’s
At Komba on the Rocks we have our own kayaks and SUP’s (Stand Up Paddle Board). Guests may use both, free of charge. Each slot is 2 hours.
Please arrange with management before taking any equipment out onto the water.
Hiking
Half-Day:
Komba on the Rocks is surrounded by beautiful greenery. Take a guided hike up into the mountain to the big Baobab tree. Along the way, look out for chameleons, lemurs, birds, and butterflies. Madagascar is known for its weird insects, so don’t go running if you spot something peculiar.
We do not recommend going into the forest without a guide.
Full-Day:
Would you like to hike to the top of the mountain on the island?
Your journey will begin in the village of Antamotamo, where you will see the locals living their daily lives. Thereafter, you’ll disappear into the forest.

Fishing and Catamaran
Full day fishing charters is available.

Whales & Whale Sharks
For your Bucket list! Get into the water and snorkel with giants. Humpback whales usually migrate through the islands of Madagascar during August till November. Whale sharks are the largest fish on Earth and usually come to visit us in October till December.
Both of these tours include a traditional Malagasy Lunch and snorkeling with giant sea turtles around Nosy Sakatia. C
Tanikely National Park
Nosy Tanikely is recognized as one of the world’s top 10 best snorkeling spots. As a Marine National Park it is a well protected island. It has a small forest and pathway that leads to the old lighthouse (built in 1908) with a spectacular view.
Enjoy the reefs with their astonishing biodiversity while snorkeling. Depending on the weather: we will have lunch on the beach under the trees.

Dolphins & Sea Turtles
Be on the look out for Bottlenose, Humpback and Stenella dolphins during your boat rides or while kayaking. They love it here in between our tropical islands and are seen all year round putting on a show for visitors.
It’s not uncommon to see hawksbill and green sea turtles while snorkeling or diving here.
We offer excursions around Nosy Komba and to Nosy Tanikely where you will probably see quite a few turtles too.
Ampasipohy
The excursion will begin with a boat ride to the village of Ampasipohy.
A guide will take you for a hike into the Lokobe Nature Reserve. During the hike your guide will show you a variety of chameleon species, lemurs, snakes, flora and fauna.
After the hike you will have time to explore Ampasipohy. there are many carvings, embroidered cutwork tablecloths, jewelry, spices and vanilla.
Lunch in the village is included and will be a traditional Malagasy meal.
Massages
After a busy day in the sun there’s nothing quite like a relaxing massage. Enjoy the local aromatic oils of Madagascar and feel yourself getting even more into the ‘‘holiday” mood. Return to your Chalet regenerated and ready for another day!

Pirogues
The locals are known for creating these beautiful wooden boats from scratch. They use them everyday for transportation as you would use a car. The village close to us is called Antamotamo and is famous for their pirogues. They are seen as the professionals in the area. We will gladly organize one of the locals to take you out on one of these boats. It will be an experience that you will never forget.
Nosy Iranja
Take a full day trip to the beautiful island of Nosy Iranja with its crystal clear waters. The island is connected by two land areas with a strip of sand which you can walk on from one side to the other side during low tide.
A traditional Malagasy lunch is included.
