About

Nosy Komba

We live on an island off the coast of Madagascar. It’s about 30 min from the port of Doany in Hellville and the same distance from Madagascar the main island.

Hellville is a town situated on Nosy Be.

Nosy Komba was originally known as Nosy Ambariovato - which means ‘island surrounded by stones'. There are no cars or roads here. Instead there are many pathways leading through the forest and up into the mountain. The main form of transportation here is by boat.

Owner of the Lodge in Madagascar

The Owners: Isak and Sunette.

“ We came to Madagascar in 2018 and fell in love with the place. When we finally returned home it felt like our definition of home had changed. Our hearts longed for islands, palm trees and a bigger meaning. ”

It took us 3 years to get the Lodge to a stage where we could finally open it to guests. As the local people say, it went “mora mora” (slowly slowly). Now we can’t wait to share it with others and see how they leave here transformed. We are often amazed at the wonders of nature here and how different our lives were back in South Africa. We’re living the Island life and loving it! We love the simplicity of it all. A simpler life means a happier and healthier life.
