Hiking in Madagascare forests on Lokobe

Hiking

Komba on the Rocks is surrounded by beautiful greenery. Take a guided hike up into the mountain. Look out for chameleons, lemurs, birds and butterflies. Madagascar is known for its weird insects so don’t go running if you spot something peculiar.

We do not recommend going into the forest without a guide.

Would you like to hike to the top of the mountain on the island? Your journey will begin in the village of Antamotamo where you will see the locals living their daily lives there after you will disappear into the forest. Feel free to ask management for more information.

Meet the Lemurs

This excursion will start off with a 15 min boat ride to the village Ampangorina.

Walk through part of the village and then enter the Black Lemur Sanctuary. There you will be able to get a guided tour to meet Madagascar’s black lemurs (macacos). You will also see other animals such as turtles and snakes.

After the tour you will have time to explore Ampangorina - known for its authentic experience of Malagasy culture. There are craft markets offering carvings, paintings, embroidered cut-work table cloths, curtains, spices and vanilla

In the village you will also find beach facing restaurants and bars.

We will meet again at the boat at our arranged time. Then we head back home!

Dolphins & Sea Turtles

Be on the look out for Bottlenose, Humpback and Stenella dolphins during your boat rides or while kayaking. They love it here in between our tropical islands and are seen all year round putting on a show for visitors.

It’s not uncommon to see hawksbill and green sea turtles while snorkeling or diving here.

We offer excursions around Nosy Komba and to Nosy Tanikely where you will probably see quite a few turtles too.

Nosy Tanikely National Park with blue skies and blue ocean

Tanikely National Park

Nosy Tanikely is recognized as one of the world’s top 10 best snorkeling spots. As a Marine National Park it is a well protected island. It has a small forest and pathway that leads to the old lighthouse (built in 1908) with a spectacular view.

Enjoy the reefs with their astonishing biodiversity while snorkeling. Depending on the weather: we will have lunch on the beach under the trees.

Lokobe and Madagascar animals

Lokobe National Park

If you’re a nature lover, Lokobe National Park is definitely worth a visit. The park protects a small part of the rainforest on Nosy Be. It only became open to the public in 2011. You can now explore a flat walk of several hundred meters, or a 1.5 km, stepped path to a lookout point.

We can arrange a boat ride for you to the park. In addition to the cost of the boat ride you will need to pay an entrance fee.

Luxury massage on terrace

Massages

After a busy day in the sun there’s nothing quite like a relaxing massage. Enjoy the local aromatic oils of Madagascar and feel yourself getting even more into the ‘‘holiday” mood. Return to your Chalet regenerated and ready for another day!

Please book one day in advance.

Pirogues

The locals are known for creating these beautiful wooden boats from scratch. They use them everyday for transportation as you would use a car. The village close to us is called Antamotamo and is famous for their pirogues. They are seen as the professionals in the area. We will gladly organize one of the locals to take you out on one of these boats. It will be an experience that you will never forget.
